Volleyball Matches Set the Stage
In girls’ volleyball, several key matches took place across the Interscholastic League of Honolulu (ILH). The Varsity I competition featured a matchup between Punahou and ‘Iolani, set to begin at 18:00. At the same time, Kamehameha faced Mid-Pacific in another highly anticipated match.
The Varsity II games included the University taking on Damien and Hanalani facing Le Jardin, both starting at 18:00 and 18:15, respectively. Meanwhile, in the Oahu Interscholastic Association (OIA) East Division I, teams such as Kalani, Kahuku, and Moanalua were gearing up for their matches against Farrington, Kalaheo, and Castle. The junior varsity games kicked off at 17:00, with the varsity matches to follow.
In the OIA West Division I, Pearl City faced Mililani, while Campbell competed against Nanakuli and Kapolei took on Waialua, with junior varsity games also beginning at 17:00.
Football Scores from Saturday’s Action
Football results from Saturday revealed an intense competition among local teams. Highlights included a strong performance from Molokai, who triumphed over Ka’u with a score of 37-22. In a close contest, Waiakea defeated Pahoa 34-24, and Kealakehe secured a narrow victory against Kohala with a score of 36-29. KS-Maui dominated Maui with a decisive 42-0 finish.
Other notable scores included Kapolei winning against Kapaa 35-0 and Leilehua overcoming ‘Iolani 27-14. Punahou also showcased their strength with a 36-7 victory over Damien. In a surprising turn, Bishop Gorman defeated Kahuku 38-0, while Liberty shut out Kailua 33-0.
The OIA East Division I saw Kalani achieving a convincing 50-14 win against Kaimuki, and Kalaheo overpowering Castle 48-14.
In the BIIF, Konawaena secured a significant victory against KS-Hawaii with a score of 36-9. Key plays included a touchdown pass from Kahekili Makekau to Chaseton Wong, and multiple rushing touchdowns by Kainalu Alves and Shayden Domingo.
