Three former defenders from the University of South Alabama have finalized their transfer destinations as they prepare for the upcoming college football season. Linebacker Blayne Myrick, defensive lineman Dominic Wiseman, and linebacker Hughes are among a growing list of players seeking new opportunities after their time with the Jaguars.

Blayne Myrick leaves South Alabama after a standout career, having been named a second-team All-Sun Belt Conference performer twice. In the 2025 season, he led the team with 84 tackles and previously recorded 101 tackles in 2024. Myrick, a graduate of Fairhope High School, was also recognized as the 2025 preseason Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Year, showcasing his potential for a successful future at his new program.

Joining Myrick are Hughes, who has battled injuries during his time at South Alabama but enjoyed a healthier final season, contributing 66 tackles, 4.5 sacks for loss, and 2.5 sacks over his four years with the team. The Tupelo, Mississippi native brings experience and resilience to his new team, looking to make a significant impact.

Also making a move is Dominic Wiseman, who transferred to South Alabama as a junior-college player in 2025. During his single season with the Jaguars, the Davenport, Iowa native recorded 23 tackles, three tackles for loss, and one sack, demonstrating his capabilities on the field.

These three players are part of a broader trend as several former Jaguars have already committed to new programs. Among them is cornerback Nehemiah Chandler, who has also made the decision to transfer. The NCAA transfer portal is open for new entrants until January 16, 2026, allowing players to announce their commitments at any point during this period.

As the transfer landscape continues to evolve, the departure of Myrick, Hughes, and Wiseman reflects the competitive nature of college football and the ongoing quest for players to find the right fit for their talent and aspirations.
