The Miami Dolphins and Washington Commanders have finalized their inactive player lists ahead of the NFL’s first regular-season game in Madrid, Spain, scheduled for March 15, 2025. The match will take place at the iconic Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, home to Real Madrid, kicking off at 9:30 a.m. Eastern Time. This game marks the conclusion of the league’s international series for the year.
In preparation for the matchup, both teams are required to narrow their active rosters from 53 players to a game-day limit of 48. This includes any players elevated from their practice squads, who also count toward this limit.
The Washington Commanders have ruled out several key players. Among those sidelined are wide receiver Treylon Burks (finger), quarterback Jayden Daniels (left elbow), linebacker Ale Kaho (concussion), and wide receiver Terry McLaurin (quadriceps). Additionally, tight end Ben Sinnott was downgraded to out on Saturday due to an ankle injury. Joining them on the inactive list are tackles Tret Scott and George Fant. In a move to bolster their lineup, the Commanders elevated running back Chase Edmonds and cornerback Tre Hawkins from the practice squad.
On the Dolphins’ side, the inactive list includes quarterback Quinn Ewers, cornerback Rasul Douglas, linebacker Andre Carter, wide receiver Dee Eskridge, and defensive tackle Matthew Butler. Both Eskridge (shoulder) and Douglas (foot/ankle) were previously listed as questionable leading up to the game. Notably, Ewers has been designated as the team’s emergency quarterback, which allows him to enter the game should starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and backup Zach Wilson both sustain injuries during play.
Despite these setbacks, there is positive news for Miami as linebacker Bradley Chubb, who was also questionable due to a foot injury, is active and available for the game.
As both teams approach kickoff, the excitement is palpable for this historic matchup, which promises to deliver thrilling action on a global stage.
