The 22nd Community Christmas Dinner took place on December 21, 2024, at Victory Lutheran Church in Jamestown, serving a total of 603 meals to those in need. This annual event, coordinated by Kris Meidinger, provided a festive meal that included turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, stuffing, and various sides, free of charge for all attendees.
Of the 603 meals served, 296 were delivered or provided as takeout, while 307 were enjoyed in the church’s dining area. This marks a slight decrease from the previous year, where 650 meals were served in 2023. Despite the reduction, the effort remains a vital resource for the community, bringing together individuals and families during the holiday season.
Community Support and Food Donations
In addition to the served meals, leftover prepared food will be donated to Daily Bread – Jamestown, ensuring that surplus items continue to benefit those experiencing food insecurity. Unused packages of food will also be directed to a local food pantry, extending the impact of the dinner beyond the event itself.
The Community Christmas Dinner has become a cherished tradition in Jamestown, symbolizing the spirit of giving and community support. Volunteers and organizers work tirelessly each year to ensure that everyone who attends feels welcomed and nourished.
As the event continues to grow, the commitment to serving the community remains steadfast. This year’s dinner not only provided meals but also fostered a sense of togetherness among attendees, showcasing the importance of community engagement during the festive season.
