The University of Hawaii’s women’s volleyball team, the Rainbow Wahine, secured a decisive victory against Cal State Fullerton, winning in straight sets with scores of 25-19, 30-28, and 25-14 at Bankoh Arena in the Stan Sheriff Center. The standout performer was Cha’lei Reid, who contributed significantly by delivering the final three kills in the second set and adding seven of her match-high 14 kills in the third set.

Team Contributions and Standings

In addition to Reid’s impressive performance, Bri Gunderson provided crucial support with 13 kills, while Victoria Leyva excelled defensively, achieving a match-high 20 digs. This victory improved Hawaii’s record to 8-13 overall and 4-6 in the Big West Conference, placing them in a tie for sixth with UC Irvine as the season progresses, with eight matches remaining.

Other notable contributions came from Miliana Sylvester, who notched nine kills, including the match-winner, and added three blocks. Adrianna Arquette was instrumental in setting up the plays, delivering a match-high 37 assists. The Rainbow Wahine’s defense was strong, outdigging the Titans by a margin of 62 to 42.

For Cal State Fullerton, Marisa Nakata, a Hawaii Baptist alumna, led her team with 10 digs and five kills. The Titans now hold an overall record of 8-14 and 2-8 in conference play.

This latest victory adds to Hawaii’s remarkable history against Fullerton, as they have now won all 52 encounters between the two programs.
