President Donald Trump defended Attorney General Pam Bondi on Saturday following criticism from some members of his support base regarding her handling of a memo related to accused sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein. In a post on Truth Social, Trump praised Bondi’s performance, stating she is doing a “FANTASTIC JOB” in her role.
Trump’s remarks came after the release of a memo by the Department of Justice, which concluded there is no evidence to support claims that Epstein maintained a “client list” or was murdered. The memo drew sharp backlash from some Trump allies, including right-wing activist Laura Loomer, who has called for Bondi’s removal from her position.
In his post, Trump expressed frustration over the criticism directed at Bondi, saying, “What’s going on with my ‘boys’ and, in some cases, ‘gals?’ They’re all going after Attorney General Pam Bondi.” He reinforced his loyalty to the MAGA movement, stating, “We’re on one Team, MAGA, and I don’t like what’s happening.”
The controversy surrounding the Epstein memo has intensified tensions between the FBI and the Department of Justice. According to reports from CNN, Deputy FBI Director Dan Bongino has indicated he may consider resigning due to disagreements stemming from the memo’s release.
Trump also reiterated his dismissal of inquiries regarding the Epstein investigation during a press conference on Tuesday, saying, “I can’t believe you’re asking a question on Epstein at a time like this.” He criticized political adversaries, including former President Barack Obama and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, for allegedly being involved in the Epstein saga and not releasing any damaging information that could have affected the MAGA movement.
In his Saturday post, Trump questioned why the “Radical Left Lunatics” had not disclosed the so-called Epstein Files if they contained information that could harm his administration. He suggested that the FBI should redirect its focus towards issues he considers more pressing, such as voter fraud and political corruption.
“LET PAM BONDI DO HER JOB — SHE’S GREAT!” Trump declared, downplaying Epstein’s significance by stating, “somebody that nobody cares about.” This defense of Bondi underscores the ongoing complexities surrounding the Epstein investigation and the political ramifications it continues to evoke within Trump’s base.
As the fallout from the memo unfolds, the dynamics between Trump, his allies, and the institutions involved in the Epstein case remain tense and uncertain.
