Visitors to the Great Lakes Science Center in Cleveland, Ohio, can immerse themselves in the extraordinary world of technology starting October 28, 2023. The new exhibit, titled “Super Human: The Power of Technology,” invites guests to explore enhanced human capabilities through over 20 interactive experiences designed to engage both mind and body.

The exhibit features a range of hands-on activities that challenge visitors to test their limits. Guests can experience superhuman strength by climbing into an exoskeleton, race against a Paralympian, and pilot a virtual jetpack. The exhibit also provides opportunities to control a robotic arm using gestures and navigate in darkness with night-vision goggles. Additional activities include using voice commands to manage appliances in a model house, testing aerodynamics in a wind tunnel, and engaging in brain-training games aimed at exploring cognitive enhancement.

Technological Innovations on Display

This exhibition not only highlights the capabilities of technology but also emphasizes the medical and industrial breakthroughs that expand human potential. According to William Katzman, vice president for exhibits at the Great Lakes Science Center, the aim is to encourage visitors to consider how technology transforms their interactions with the world. Katzman stated, “This exhibit succeeds when visitors imagine future inventions they want to see. What tools would you invent? How do cutting-edge bio-mechanical tools inspire you? We hope this exhibition will inspire a new generation of bioengineers and prompt reflection on the ethical considerations of these technologies.”

The opening day will also feature the debut of the film “Superhuman Body: World of Medical Marvels” in the Dome Theater. Narrated by Matthew McConaughey, the film introduces audiences to three individuals whose lives were dramatically improved by groundbreaking medical innovations.
