The Northern Virginia Technology Council (NVTC) has issued a statement urging business organizations throughout Virginia to support George Mason University and its president, Dr. Gregory Washington. According to NVTC, over 80% of Mason graduates remain in Northern Virginia, directly contributing their skills to key industries. The council’s statement praised the university for its ability to tailor academic programs to meet the evolving needs of the local economy. “Mason fuels Northern Virginia’s talent engine,” NVTC said, underscoring the university’s role in shaping the future workforce.
The statement further calls on the Mason Board of Visitors to reaffirm its commitment to the university as a critical asset and to support Dr. Washington’s strategic vision for Mason. Under his leadership, the university has expanded its research capacity, strengthened partnerships with private industry, and increased access to opportunities for students across diverse backgrounds.
