Joseph P. Ryan, a long-time resident of Wilmington, Massachusetts, passed away on December 8, 2025, at the age of 84. He was remembered as a devoted family man and a respected member of the community.

Joe was the beloved husband of the late Irene Saxones Ryan and is survived by his two children, Valerie Riccio and her husband Dan Riccio of Tewksbury, along with his son James Ryan, who resides in Wilmington. The family has expressed their deep sorrow over the loss of their father and grandfather, underscoring his significant role in their lives.

Family and Legacy

Born to the late Joseph and Kathryne Castles Ryan, Joe is also remembered as a cherished brother. He is survived by his sister, Eleanore McCormack of Nashua, New Hampshire, as well as the late Kathryne Sawtelle and Martha Frazier. He was a loving brother-in-law to Joan Gormley and the late Christopher Gormley of Dracut. Joe’s legacy will continue through his many nieces and nephews, who held him in high regard.

Friends and family are invited to gather for visiting hours at the Nichols Funeral Home, located at 187 Middlesex Avenue (Route 62) in Wilmington, on Monday, December 15th, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. A Funeral Service with Military Honors will follow at 11:30 a.m. Interment will be private, respecting the family’s wishes for privacy during this difficult time.
