Glenn R. Miller, a former resident of Leesport and a long-time member of The Highlands in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania, passed away on January 15, 2026, at the age of 81. He was the beloved husband of Sally A. (Hunt) Miller, with whom he celebrated 60 years of marriage on May 8, 2025.
Born in Leesport, Glenn was the son of the late Kenneth G. Miller and Beulah A. (Wentzel) Miller. He graduated from Ontelaunee High School in 1962 and later served in the United States Army. Glenn dedicated 37 years of his professional life as a representative for the Lutheran Brotherhood, now known as Thrivent, before retiring in 1999.
A Passion for Sports and Community Service
Glenn was an avid sports enthusiast, particularly passionate about baseball and golf. He played in the minor league system for the Pittsburgh Pirates, showcasing his skills on the diamond. Throughout his life, he achieved two holes-in-one while golfing, a testament to his talent on the course.
His commitment to community service was evident through his various roles in local organizations. Glenn served on the church council for the Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity in Leesport and held positions such as the East Berks Mission Lay President for six years and a board member for the Family Life Topton Home for five years. Additionally, he was involved with the Berks County Prison Society and the Prospectus/Berco Board. Glenn was also a life member of both the Basketball Old Timers and the Reading Hot Stovers.
Glenn is survived by his wife, Sally, and their two sons: Kerry G. Miller, husband of Giuseppina, from Danbury, Connecticut, and Brian K. Miller, husband of Michael McCarthy, from Chester Township, New Jersey. He also leaves behind three grandchildren: Peter, Gabriella, and Giuliana. In addition to his immediate family, Glenn is survived by his siblings: Larry D. Miller, husband of Sylvia, from Lancaster; Deanna F. (Miller) Barbis, wife of Peter, from The Highlands; Lynn K. Miller, husband of Barbara, from Monroeville, New Jersey; and Steven K. Miller, husband of Gail, from Pennsville, New Jersey. He was predeceased by a daughter, Deanna S. Miller, who passed away on November 17, 2017.
Memorial Services and Tributes
A memorial service will take place on January 24, 2026, at 12:00 PM at the Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity, located at 102 Apple Street, Leesport, PA 19533. Friends and family are invited to a visitation from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM prior to the service. Burial will be private and held at Laureldale Cemetery.
