As a young mother, Gretchen began her journey in Bismarck, North Dakota, where she connected with other parents who shared similar experiences. On December 31, 2023, Gretchen’s life was celebrated in a heartfelt funeral service at Sts. Anne & Joachim Church in Fargo. The sanctuary was adorned with festive decorations that would have pleased her, including sparkling evergreens and large, ribboned Christmas wreaths. The atmosphere was one of remembrance and gratitude, paying tribute to a woman who dedicated her life to serving others.
During the service, her sister-in-law, Susan Noah, read from Wisdom 3:1-9, offering comfort to the gathered mourners with the assurance that “the souls of the righteous are in the hands of God.” This sentiment resonated deeply, providing solace to those who had come to honor Gretchen’s remarkable journey.
Fr. Luke, who delivered the homily, emphasized the idea that Gretchen now rests in the company of saints, which uplifted many in attendance.
