
Georgia Keenan, a beloved member of the Williamsburg community, passed away on July 23, 2025. She was known for her dedication to caring for others and her vibrant spirit. Born in Bay City, Texas, Georgia lived in multiple states, including Michigan, Illinois, New Jersey, Virginia, Colorado, Montana, Washington, and Oregon, where she met her late husband, James Keenan.
When Georgia and James were expecting their first child, they relocated to Williamsburg, VA, to be closer to her parents, Welton and Bobbie Bryant. Georgia’s career as a Certified Nursing Assistant spanned nearly 30 years, during which she worked at several esteemed facilities, including Dominion Village, Patriot’s Colony, and Williamsburg Landing. Her specialty was caring for senior citizens with dementia, a role she regarded as her true calling.
Community Contributions and Family Legacy
In addition to her work in healthcare, Georgia contributed her time to the American Red Cross and was involved with Mary Kay. Her commitment to service extended to her faith community as well; for many years, she was a member of the Williamsburg United Methodist Church, where she taught Kindergarten Sunday school. Georgia graduated from York High School in 1967 and was known for her love of reading, her affinity for animals, and her keen sense of humor.
Georgia is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Keenan, and son-in-law, Benjamin Brummett, as well as her brother, Gary Bryant. She also leaves behind her daughter’s Godmother, Mary Overby. Georgia’s passing is felt deeply by her family and friends, who remember her as a nurturing and compassionate individual.
Memorial Services and Donations
A viewing for Georgia will be held on August 1, 2025, at Bucktrout of Williamsburg from 18:00 to 20:00. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the American Red Cross or the American Diabetes Association, organizations that resonate with Georgia’s commitment to helping others.
As the community gathers to honor Georgia Keenan’s life, her legacy of care, compassion, and dedication to service will undoubtedly continue to inspire those who knew her.
