Guy N. Solano, a well-known boxer and local businessman, passed away at the age of 51 on December 13, 2025, at his home in Pittston. His death has left a profound impact on the community that he served and inspired throughout his life.
Born on April 20, 1974, in Pittston, Guy was the son of the late Nicholas Nicky Solano and Marsha (Maleski) Knoll. A graduate of Pittston Area High School, Class of 1992, he furthered his education at Luzerne County Community College.
Guy was the owner and operator of the GNS Tobacco Stores, with locations in Moscow and Duryea. His business acumen was matched by his prowess in athletics. In 1994, he became a Golden Gloves amateur boxing champion, showcasing his talent and dedication to the sport. His passion for boxing eventually led him to explore Mixed Martial Arts, where he continued to compete and thrive.
Throughout his athletic career, Guy devoted significant time to training and mentoring children in Mixed Martial Arts. His commitment to nurturing young talent demonstrated his belief in the importance of community and personal development.
In addition to his athletic achievements, Guy had a profound love for music. He played drums for several local bands, engaging with the artistic community and sharing his talents with others. Friends and family remember him as someone who lived life to the fullest, making lasting impressions on all who crossed his path.
He is survived by his children, Nico Solano of Pittston and Ariana Solano, who is engaged to Jake Wysocki, also of Pittston. His legacy continues through his granddaughter, Amelia Wysocki, and his fiancée, Alicia Bruneio. Additionally, he leaves behind his brother, Nicholas Solano Jr., his stepbrother, Jason Llewellyn, and his stepmother, Grace (Walsh) Solano.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on January 24, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Church (Corpus Christi Parish), located at 605 Luzerne Ave., West Pittston. The service will be officiated by Monsignor John J. Sempa. Friends and family are invited to visitation on the morning of the Mass, starting at 9:00 AM.
