In a significant effort to enhance emergency preparedness, CENTEGIX has partnered with the Sudden Cardiac Arrest Foundation (SCAF) to promote lifesaving readiness during Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness Month. This collaboration aims to ensure swift responses to cardiac emergencies across workplaces and schools throughout the United States. With rapid intervention being critical to survival, this initiative emphasizes the message: saving time saves lives.

Addressing the Challenge of Sudden Cardiac Arrest

Sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) remains a leading cause of unexpected death, claiming over 350,000 lives annually in the U.S. alone. The impact of these incidents extends deeply into communities, especially in educational settings. For instance, in Florida, a middle school student collapsed during class due to sudden cardiac arrest. Thanks to the quick activation of CrisisAlert and the immediate use of an automated external defibrillator (AED), staff were able to save her life.

Another instance occurred in Lee County Schools, Florida, where staff successfully revived a student using CPR and an AED during an emergency. These examples highlight a crucial reality: every second counts in cardiac emergencies.

Enhancing Response Times with Technology

The CENTEGIX Safety Platform is designed to empower responders by providing instant emergency alerts that identify the precise location of a crisis on campus maps. This innovative solution helps locate the nearest AEDs, First Aid tools, and essential emergency medical services (EMS) access points. By integrating personnel, equipment, and location data, CENTEGIX significantly reduces the time required to respond in critical situations.

“Medical emergencies occur frequently, and last year, nearly 10% of all CrisisAlert activations were for medical crises—amounting to approximately 25,000 instances where help reached individuals in need faster,” said Brent Cobb, CEO of CENTEGIX. “In many cases, this prompt response likely influenced the outcome, as getting help quickly can save lives. This mission aligns with SCAF’s commitment to equip communities with the knowledge and tools necessary to respond effectively.”

According to Gina Peattie, Executive Director of SCAF, “Immediate CPR and AED use can double or even triple survival rates.” This partnership serves to expand public awareness and emphasizes that the key to survival lies in swift action during emergencies.

As October unfolds, the collaboration between CENTEGIX and the Sudden Cardiac Arrest Foundation aims to foster a culture of preparedness that can potentially save lives across various communities. By providing the necessary tools and knowledge, both organizations hope to make a meaningful impact in the fight against sudden cardiac arrest.
