Uniqlo has unveiled a new apparel and accessories collection inspired by the upcoming film Zootopia 2, set to be released in theaters on November 26, 2023. This collection, launching on November 1, is part of Disney’s “Magic for All” initiative, which aims to create a variety of products that celebrate beloved characters and stories.
According to Yukihiro Katsuta, group senior executive officer at Uniqlo, the collaboration reflects the brand’s commitment to transforming Lifewear into a canvas for creativity and imagination. “Our ‘Zootopia’ collection brings that vision to life for people around the world,” he stated in a recent interview with WWD.
This launch coincides with Disney’s promotional event, “Ssssurprise Week,” named after a new character, Gary De’Snake, voiced by Ke Huy Quan. The limited-edition collection includes 15 new unisex styles for both adults and children. Items are designed in vibrant colors and feature wardrobe essentials ranging from cozy sweatshirts to graphic T-shirts, all referencing characters from the original Zootopia film, such as Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde, voiced by Ginnifer Goodwin and Jason Bateman respectively.
The collection aims to capture the essence of Zootopia while introducing new characters, showcasing Uniqlo’s ability to blend casual fashion with storytelling. As the fall season peaks, the comfortable and stylish pieces are expected to resonate with fans of all ages.
Uniqlo’s partnership with Disney dates back to 2009 and has evolved over the years, demonstrating the brand’s ability to integrate pop culture into its offerings. In 2015, Uniqlo launched a line featuring a “bohemian style” with feminine silhouettes, which included unique design elements like puffed sleeves and semi-transparent fabrics.
Founded in 1949 in Japan as a textiles manufacturer, Uniqlo has grown into a global leader in the apparel industry, boasting over 1,000 stores worldwide. Recently, the brand also celebrated the fifth anniversary of its sustainable initiative, “Re.Uniqlo,” which focuses on recycling, repairs, and the resale of clothing.
As excitement builds for the release of Zootopia 2, Uniqlo’s new collection not only highlights the enduring popularity of the franchise but also reinforces the brand’s commitment to engaging with audiences through imaginative and stylish designs.
