A new culinary destination is set to make its debut in New York’s SoHo in early spring 2026. Selene by Kyma will offer a modern interpretation of Aegean dining, combining refined hospitality with an immersive sensory experience. The restaurant aims to transport guests through architecture, music, light, and cuisine that reflect the vibrant atmosphere of downtown Manhattan.

Occupying nearly 10,000 square feet, Selene features space for up to 300 guests across multiple dining rooms, lush garden terraces, and a striking retractable atrium that opens to the sky. This architectural centerpiece not only enhances the dining experience but also pays homage to Selene, the Greek goddess of the moon, allowing natural moonlight to illuminate the space.

At the helm of this venture is co-founder Reno Christou, who brings over three decades of experience in elevating Greek dining in New York. He envisions Selene as a continuation of his mission to refine Greek cuisine, moving beyond traditional tavern offerings to highlight pristine seafood and exceptional olive oil. “Greek dining in New York has evolved dramatically over the years,” Christou states. “With Selene, we are taking that evolution even further.”

James Ragonese, also a co-founder, adds a wealth of experience in hospitality leadership to the project. He emphasizes the significance of SoHo as a location, describing it as a hub of creativity and culture. “When this space became available, I immediately felt its architectural presence and what it could become,” Ragonese explains. “Selene was always meant to be more than a restaurant. It is meant to be a social destination.”

The design ethos at Selene reflects its Mediterranean roots. The interiors feature natural materials such as travertine stone, linen drapery, and terracotta accents, creating an inviting atmosphere that feels both organic and intentional. Custom furniture and lighting crafted in Greece further enhance the authenticity of the experience.

One of the standout features of the restaurant is its retractable atrium, which allows for a unique indoor-outdoor dining experience. Natural light fills the space during the day, while the evening transforms as the ceiling opens to the moonlit sky, fostering a dynamic dining environment.

The menu at Selene is anchored in clarity and respect for ingredients, showcasing the best of Aegean cuisine. Dishes include whole grilled fish finished with lemon and olive oil, charcoal-grilled octopus, and elevated takes on Greek classics like single-cut Colorado lamb chops. Signature offerings feature vine-ripened Greek salad with barrel-aged feta and thick strained Greek yogurt drizzled with Kythira island thyme honey.

Selene will also feature a dedicated Aegean crudo bar, emphasizing whole fish tartares and carpaccios that highlight Mediterranean traceability. Tableside seafood presentations will enhance the dining experience, inviting guests to engage with the culinary craft in an interactive manner.

Beyond the food, Selene aims to create an atmosphere that seamlessly transitions from dining to nightlife. The soundscape will evolve from warm Mediterranean rhythms to deeper, soulful textures as the night progresses, fostering a vibrant social environment.
