Ruth Ann Chepalonis, aged 74, passed away peacefully at her home in Exeter on December 3, 2025. She was surrounded by her family during her final moments. Ruth was the cherished wife of Anthony Chepalonis, with whom she celebrated 52 years of marriage on October 13, 2025.
Born on February 17, 1951, in Kingston, Ruth was the daughter of the late Anthony and Lillian Sadowski. Following her high school education, she began her career at the Party Time Manufacturing Company in Hughestown. While she contributed professionally, Ruth dedicated herself to her family, finding fulfillment in her role as a homemaker.
Ruth’s faith was an integral part of her life. A devoted Catholic, she exemplified kindness and compassion, leaving a lasting impact on those around her. Among her hobbies, quilting brought her joy, but nothing compared to the happiness she derived from spending time with her family.
Family Legacy and Impact
Ruth’s life was a testament to the strength of family bonds and the power of faith. She is remembered for her loving spirit and unwavering dedication to her loved ones. Her passing leaves a profound void in the lives of her family and friends, who will miss her deeply.
In addition to her husband, Anthony, Ruth is survived by her daughters, Lisa Stugart of Pittsburgh and Antoinette Jones of West Pittston. She also leaves behind four grandchildren: Sonja, Gavin, and Amelia Stugart, and Carson Jones. Ruth is remembered by her brother, Thomas Sadowski from New Jersey, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings: Anthony, Bernard, Edward, Jacob, Joseph, Agnes Toole, and Elizabeth Besermin. The loss of these family members has been significant throughout her life, shaping her into the loving matriarch she became.
Memorial Services
Friends and family are invited to honor Ruth’s memory during a memorial visitation on December 11, 2025, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the Immaculate Conception Church of Corpus Christi Parish, located at 605 Luzerne Avenue in West Pittston. A Memorial Mass will follow at 11:00 AM, officiated by Monsignor John J. Sempa. Arrangements for the funeral have been entrusted to Bednarski Funeral Home, situated at 168 Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming.
