Wesley James Barton, a cherished resident of Kennebunk, passed away peacefully at home on March 5, 2026, at the age of 92. Surrounded by his loving family, Wes leaves behind a legacy marked by devotion to his family and a successful career.

Born on January 27, 1934, in Portland, Maine, Wes was the son of James and Frances Barton. He spent his formative years in the North Deering area, where he graduated from Deering High School in 1952. In 1954, he married Flossie Kidder, and together they raised their family in Cumberland, Maine.

Wes enjoyed a fulfilling career as a Systems Analyst at Union Mutual (now known as UNUM), where he dedicated over 25 years of service. His professional contributions significantly impacted the organization and those he worked with.

Family played a central role in Wes’s life. He is survived by his daughter, Lori Barton, and her husband, Bill Hickey. His sons, James and Chris, along with their wives, Sandy and Lisa, also carry on his memory. Wes was proud of his nine grandchildren: Alex, Lindsey, Adam, Carolyn, Ashley, Elizabeth, Victoria, Erica, and Carolyn, as well as six great-grandchildren.

Wes’s family also includes his sister, Mary Picavet, along with his nephew, Scott, and his nieces, Kim Campbell and Debbie Tamietti, and their families. He was predeceased by his parents, James and Frances, his brother Gene, and his brother-in-law, Kenneth Picavet.

The family expressed heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and aides from Hospice of Southern Maine for their compassionate care and support during Wes’s final days.
