Lorraine F. Lease, a cherished resident of Moravian Village in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully at St. Luke’s Hospice on January 9, 2026, at the age of 94. Known for her dedication to education and community service, Lorraine’s legacy will live on through the countless lives she touched.

Born on December 11, 1931, in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, Lorraine was the daughter of Robert and Cora Florey. After completing her education at Liberty High School, she pursued a teaching degree from Kutztown University and later earned a Master’s degree in Education from Lehigh University. Lorraine dedicated over 30 years to teaching elementary education, with two decades spent in the Bethlehem Area School District.

Upon her retirement, Lorraine and her late husband, George M. Lease, who passed away on February 22, 2003, embraced a life filled with travel and leisure activities. They enjoyed playing tennis, golf, and skiing, along with spending quality time with friends and family. Lorraine was also an avid reader, fond of crossword puzzles, and participated in the Moravian Village chorus, reflecting her vibrant personality.

Community involvement was a cornerstone of Lorraine’s life. She volunteered with various organizations, including Meals on Wheels, the Allentown Art Museum, Cops n’ Kids, and the New Bethany soup kitchen. Her commitment to service was underscored by her long-standing membership at Central Moravian Church in Bethlehem, where she actively contributed to church activities.

Lorraine is survived by her sisters, Althea Lazun of Bethlehem and Joyce Hess of Hempstead, North Carolina. She leaves behind stepdaughters Joan Johnson of Gainesville, Georgia, and Susan Baier of Snowflake, Arizona, along with six step-grandchildren, seven step-great-grandchildren, six step-great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister, Roberta Florey.

Memorial Service and Contributions

A memorial service honoring Lorraine will take place at Central Moravian Chapel on March 20, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. Following the service, a private family inurnment will occur later at Bethlehem Memorial Park.
