In a significant boost to family-friendly facilities, the Medina Community Recreation Center has received a generous donation from Foundations Worldwide Inc., a company specializing in children’s products. Jansen Wehrley, the Parks and Recreation Director, announced that the organization has provided not only a universal changing station but also several baby changing tables, enhancing the center’s amenities for families.

Details of the Donation

This month, Wehrley confirmed that the donation included multiple baby changing tables, addressing an immediate need at the facility. “The City Council just last month accepted the approval for the adult changing station, and we had just completed our locker room renovations,” Wehrley stated. Upon reviewing the existing baby changing stations, it became clear they were outdated. Wehrley reached out to Foundations for a quote but was pleasantly surprised when the company decided to ship the tables at no cost.

The universal changing station, valued at $10,500, is designed to accommodate users of all ages and sizes, with a weight capacity of up to 500 pounds. It will be installed in one of the recreation center’s family changing rooms, ensuring that families have access to safe and comfortable facilities. The local school maintenance staff will assist with the installation process.

Community Support and Safety Initiatives

In addition to the changing tables, the Medina County Board of Developmental Disabilities has agreed to provide customized instructional signage that will be displayed near the changing station, further enhancing its usability for families.

As the city prepares for the upcoming Halloween festivities, officials are reminding parents to prioritize safety when selecting costumes and accessories for their children. Recommendations include choosing fire-resistant materials for costumes and using reflective tape or glow sticks for visibility during evening hours. The city also advises opting for nontoxic makeup instead of masks, which can impair vision.

The proactive measures taken by the Medina Community Recreation Center and local authorities underscore a commitment to enhancing community safety and accessibility for families. As the holiday approaches, these initiatives reflect a broader focus on creating a supportive environment for all residents.
