The Swoyersville Kiwanis Club hosted Shannon Peduto, the executive director of the Luzerne County Child Advocacy Center, during a recent meeting where she detailed the center’s critical work in supporting children affected by various forms of abuse. Peduto’s presentation focused on the center’s mission to assist victims of physical abuse, sexual abuse, neglect, drug endangerment, human trafficking, and other crimes.

Founded in 2014, the Luzerne County Child Advocacy Center is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing essential services to abused children and their families throughout Luzerne County. The center has made a significant impact in the community, having served more than 5,000 children since its inception. Its holistic approach to addressing child abuse aims to create a supportive environment for healing and recovery.

During the meeting, the Swoyersville Kiwanis expressed their commitment to supporting the center’s efforts. After reviewing their budget and with the help of their supporters, the club was pleased to provide additional financial assistance to enhance the center’s capabilities. This collaboration exemplifies the community’s dedication to protecting vulnerable children and ensuring they receive the help they need.

The services offered by the Luzerne County Child Advocacy Center are provided free of charge, ensuring that families in need have access to vital resources without financial barriers.
