Cookie season has officially begun across eastern Pennsylvania, marked by the launch of the 2026 Girl Scout Cookie sales. This year, the Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania introduces a new flavor, Exploremores, a rocky road ice cream-inspired sandwich cookie. The organization aims to capture the spirit of exploration that defines its mission.

New Flavor and Tradition

The newly unveiled Exploremores cookie features chocolate cookies filled with marshmallow and toasted almond-flavored crème. This debut not only enhances the iconic cookie lineup but also aligns with the Girl Scouts’ focus on inspiring young girls to embrace adventure and leadership. According to Kim E. Fraites-Dow, the chief executive officer of Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania, this season is eagerly anticipated for its ability to foster both community engagement and skill development.

The annual cookie program represents the organization’s largest fundraising effort, supporting various troop activities, travel opportunities, service projects, and summer camp experiences. Importantly, proceeds from cookie sales remain local, benefiting programs throughout the region.

This year’s cookie season holds additional significance as it coincides with the celebration of America’s 250th anniversary. The Girl Scouts are honoring their historical roots, as the first known cookie sale took place in Philadelphia in 1933. Local Girl Scouts baked and sold cookies at the Philadelphia Gas and Electric Company, with the nationwide rollout occurring in 1936.

Classic Offerings and Purchase Options

Alongside Exploremores, cookie enthusiasts can still enjoy beloved classics such as Thin Mints, Caramel deLites, Peanut Butter Patties, Adventurefuls, Lemonades, Trefoils, and the gluten-free Caramel Chocolate Chip cookie. Most cookie varieties are priced at $6 per package, while the gluten-free option is available for $7. Sales will continue until March 8.

Customers can purchase cookies directly from local Girl Scouts, locate nearby booths, or opt for shipment using the Girl Scout Cookie Finder. For updates throughout the season, shoppers can text COOKIES to 59618. Additional information about purchasing cookies or supporting local troops can be found at www.gsep.org/cookies. Girls in grades kindergarten through 12 interested in participating can learn more about joining or volunteering at www.gsep.org/join.

As the cookie season unfolds, each purchase signifies more than just a treat; it fuels opportunities for the next generation of leaders while celebrating a cherished tradition that began nearly a century ago in Philadelphia.
