William “Bill” John Budensiek, aged 91, passed away on October 18, 2025, at Goodhue Senior Living. A long-time resident of Zumbrota, Budensiek was known for his deep connections within the community and his commitment to family and service.

Born on March 7, 1934, in Red Wing, Minnesota, Budensiek was raised in Zumbrota, where he graduated from Zumbrota High School. Following his education, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, serving as a Staff Sergeant during the Korean Conflict from 1952 until his honorable discharge in 1956. It was during his military service that he met his future wife, Socorro Pacheco, whom he married on November 30, 1955.

After his time in the Air Force, Budensiek began a career at IBM, where he worked from 1956 to 1971. He then transitioned to full-time farming and later worked with Golden Harvest Seed. Throughout his life, Budensiek was actively involved in local governance, serving on the Minneola Town Board for an impressive 43 years as Board Supervisor.

Budensiek was a dedicated member of the Stary-Yerka VFW Post 5727 in Zumbrota, where he served as a trustee. His passion for the outdoors was evident through his involvement in various conservation organizations, including Ducks Unlimited and Pheasants Forever. He cherished activities such as hunting and fishing, sharing these interests with family and friends.

His spiritual life was equally significant. Budensiek was a lifelong member of the Congregational Church in Zumbrota until its closure, after which he joined St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Goodhue. At Goodhue Senior Living, he continued to engage actively in the community, participating in numerous groups and activities, showcasing his passion for social connection.

Family played a central role in Budensiek’s life. He was known for his morning coffee gatherings at the VFW and lively Hucklebuck parties. He was devoted to his wife, children, and grandchildren, expressing pride in his family legacy, which includes six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Budensiek is survived by his daughter, Cristal LaCanne of Zumbrota; his son, Art Pacheco of Lake City, Florida; and a beloved niece, Leslie Luhman of Mazeppa. He is preceded in death by his wife, Socorro; his son, Albert; and several siblings.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on October 27, 2025, at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Goodhue, led by Reverend Eric Hanson. Visitation is scheduled for 1-4 p.m. on October 26, 2025, at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Larson Chapel in Zumbrota, with an additional hour of visitation prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place at the Zumbrota Cemetery.
