Karen P. Justus, aged 78, passed away on September 17, 2025, in Maryland, leaving behind a legacy of community involvement and family devotion. Born in Nanticoke, she was the daughter of the late Sheldon and Margaret Masters Lawrence and graduated from Newport Township High School in 1964.

For the last two years, Karen resided in Aberdeen, Maryland, close to her daughter and grandchildren. She was an active member of the Dallas United Methodist Church, where she contributed as a Sunday School teacher and participated in the Tuesday Quilting group and the Sister’s Circle.

Throughout her career, Karen held various positions, including cashier roles at Weis Markets and Stopay Candies, as well as working with the VA Credit Union and other banking institutions. Her commitment to her community and family was reflected in her long-standing involvement with the class reunion group for her high school class of 1964.

Karen’s husband, Kenneth Justus, predeceased her in 1999. She is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Justus, and son-in-law, Dan Rusin, both of Aberdeen, MD. Her son, Kristopher Justus, and his wife, Kelly, reside in Lovettsville, Virginia. Karen is also remembered by her sister, Pamela Paprota, her brother-in-law Leonard Justus and his wife, Karen, as well as brother-in-law Doug Justus. She is survived by four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Arrangements and Community Tributes

The funeral service for Karen Justus will take place on September 27, 2025, at 12:00 PM, at the Richard H. Disque Funeral Home, Inc., located at 2940 Memorial Highway, Dallas, Pennsylvania. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects beginning at 11:00 AM until the service commences.
