MaryEllen Audi (Hudanick), a beloved member of the Swoyersville community, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2025. She is remembered as the last surviving sibling of the Hudanick family, known for their close-knit ties and vibrant presence on Watkins Street in Swoyersville, Pennsylvania. Her infectious smile and warm personality left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
Born in March 1939, MaryEllen graduated from Swoyersville High School in 1957. Following her early career at JS Raub, she met her husband, George Junie Audi, shortly after he returned from serving in the Navy during the Korean War. Their union produced three children: Pamela Dommes, George Audi, and Tammy Audi. The couple initially settled in Kingston before moving to Jay Street in Swoyersville, where they created cherished memories with friends, family, and neighbors for nearly five decades.
Throughout her life, MaryEllen was dedicated to her family. She took immense joy in cooking and baking, often transforming her home into a cozy haven. Known for her keen eye for design, she frequently redecorated her living space, ensuring it was inviting for loved ones. A hardworking individual, MaryEllen contributed to her household by working extra hours to support her family. She took pride in her cleaning business, where she made many homeowners proud of the homes she cared for, always insisting that guests remove their shoes upon entering.
MaryEllen enjoyed social activities, particularly playing bingo with her sisters and poker during holiday gatherings with the Hergy family. One of her favorite pastimes was visiting local casinos, where she would often be seen with a hazelnut coffee from Dunkin Donuts in hand while trying her luck at the slot machines.
Her faith played a significant role in her life. MaryEllen was deeply devoted to her church, her Lord, and her Bible. Family and friends take comfort in knowing that she is at peace.
MaryEllen is survived by five grandchildren: Gabriella Audi, Dylan Audi, Jake Miscavage, Maximillian Dommes, and Nick Miscavage. Following the passing of her husband after 52 years together, she spent her later years bringing joy to the residents and staff at Serenity Care in Wyoming, Pennsylvania, and more recently at 3rd Avenue Health and Rehabilitation in Kingston. There, she was held in high regard and cherished by all.
In accordance with her wishes, there will be no funeral services or interment. Instead, the family encourages those wishing to honor MaryEllen’s memory to consider making a donation to Candys Place in Forty Fort. This wellness center offers support to cancer patients and their caregivers through a variety of services, including counseling, massages, and tai chi—benefits that were particularly appreciated by her daughter, Pam, who sadly lost her battle with cancer the previous year.
MaryEllen’s final arrangements were handled by Mamary-Durkin Funeral & Cremation Services, located at 59 Parrish Street in Wilkes-Barre. Her legacy of love, hard work, and community spirit will continue to resonate in the hearts of those who knew her.
