Arlene Hartman, a cherished member of the Telford community and a long-time resident of Sellersville, passed away on November 25, 2025, at the age of 87. Her death occurred at the Lutheran Community at Telford, where she had been living in her final years.
Born on July 2, 1938, Arlene was the devoted wife of the late Glenn Hartman, Sr., with whom she shared 65 years of marriage until his death in 2023. She was the daughter of the late Arthur and Ella Mae (Myers) Strouse and received her education at Sell-Perk High School.
Throughout her life, Arlene was known for her strong work ethic. She worked at the Lutz Pants Factory and the former Emil’s Diner in Sellersville. Additionally, she served as a consultant for both Mary Kay and Avon. Arlene retired from her position as a cashier at Clemens Markets in 1997.
Active Community Member and Devoted Churchgoer
A dedicated member of St. Michael’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sellersville for more than 60 years, Arlene contributed significantly to her community. She participated in the church choir, volunteered with the Altar Guild, and served as president of the Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (WELCA) for 25 years.
Her involvement extended beyond the church; Arlene was also a member of the Buck-Mont Organ Club and the North Penn Homemakers. Known for her vibrant personality, she enjoyed gardening, caring for her cats, antiquing, and traveling. Arlene was passionate about various hobbies, including collecting stamps and first-day covers, square dancing, scrapbooking, and watching the Philadelphia Phillies.
Arlene is survived by her daughter, Barbara A. Nemecek, and her husband, James; a sister, Margie Derstine; several nieces and nephews; and many loving family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and a son, Glenn Hartman, Jr., who passed away in 1996.
Services and Memorial Contributions
A viewing will take place on December 5, 2025, from 10:00 to 10:55 a.m. at St. Michael’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, located at 25 E. Church St., Sellersville, PA 18960. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m., with a livestream available for those unable to attend in person. After the service, interment will occur at Sellersville Cemetery.
