Barbara T. Caffrey, an esteemed resident of Phoenixville, passed away on August 8, 2025, at the age of 89. Caffrey, who was the widow of Eugene L. Caffrey, died at her daughter’s home, surrounded by family. Born in Phoenixville, she was the daughter of the late Thomas A. Taggart Sr. and Florence M. Taggart.

A lifelong member of the community, Barbara was devoted to her faith as a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Spring City. She completed her early education at St. Ann’s School in Phoenixville and graduated from Phoenixville High School in 1953.

Family and Legacy

Barbara is survived by her sons, Lawrence E. Caffrey, married to Katie, and Michael T. Caffrey, married to Terry. Her daughters, Lisa A. Fresch, wife of Mark, and Barbara A. Caffrey, wife of Denise, also carry on her legacy. She was cherished by her grandchildren, including Liam Caffrey, Amelia Fresch, and Silas Fresch, as well as her great-grandchildren, Andrew and Shelby Pearl. Additionally, Barbara is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

In recognition of her dedication to the community and the country, the family encourages donations in her memory to the Southeastern Veterans Center, located at 1 Veterans Dr., Spring City, PA 19475.

Memorial Services

A memorial mass will take place on August 28, 2025, at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, located at 3640 Schuylkill Rd., Spring City, PA 19475. Interment will be private, allowing the family to cherish their memories of Barbara in a more personal setting.
