Richard Maynard, aged 78, passed away on December 30, 2025, at his home in Avon, surrounded by his family. His death was attributed to complications from Parkinson’s Disease, a condition he faced with bravery. A respected member of his community, Richard leaves behind a legacy of service and family devotion.

Born and raised in Wayne, West Virginia, Richard graduated from Wayne High School. He later served in the U.S. Army as part of an Infantry division, demonstrating his commitment to his country. After his military service, he built a career at MTD (Modern Tool & Die/Shiloh Industries), where he dedicated over 40 years of his professional life before retiring.

Richard was known for his love of the outdoors, particularly enjoying rides on his ATV through the scenic hills of West Virginia. These moments spent with family and friends were cherished, reflecting his passion for adventure and connection with loved ones.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Maynard (née Fleming), with whom he shared 52 years of marriage. Richard is also survived by two children, Lori Duesler (married to Jason Duesler) and Richard J. Maynard, along with two grandchildren, Gage and Morgan. His siblings, Jack Maynard (married to Linda Maynard), Walter Maynard (married to Lynne Maynard), and E.J. Maynard (married to Bonnie Maynard), also survive him.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, James and Carrie Maynard (née Hundley), as well as several siblings: Robert, James F., Opal Glynn, and Louise Maynard. He also remembered his beloved pet, ChloeRose, who had a special place in his heart.

In line with his wishes, Richard will be cremated, with plans for his ashes to be scattered in locations meaningful to him. A celebration of his life is scheduled to take place in the spring in Dunlow, West Virginia, allowing family and friends to gather and honor his memory.

Arrangements are being managed by Misenicik Funeral Home in Avon. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages those wishing to honor Richard’s memory to consider planting a living memorial.
