Midwest Therapy Center has recently unveiled its expanded therapy options in Dickinson, North Dakota, following a significant renovation of its office space. The center now features a team of three licensed social workers, including two licensed master social workers and one licensed clinical social worker, catering to individuals aged 10 and above. In addition to individual and couples therapy, the center collaborates with Midwest Psychiatric Care to provide medication services.

Founder Jessica Landis emphasized that a primary aim of the practice is to minimize wait times for clients seeking mental health support. “My goal is to have availability because people have needs,” Landis stated. “People say, ‘yes, I’m ready for that next step,’ and it can be hard to sit and wait.”

Landis, along with colleagues Amber Bruer and Emmi Braun, brings extensive experience in addressing various mental health challenges, including trauma, dual diagnosis, personality disorders, depression, and anxiety. Landis, who holds a bachelor’s degree from Minot State University and a master’s from Boise State University, shared that her commitment to serving others began in her upbringing in rural North Dakota.

“I worked a lot with the geriatric population and gained substantial experience in skilled nursing, working with individuals of all ages,” Landis explained. “I encountered many cases involving traumatic brain injuries, often accompanied by addiction, which profoundly influenced my career path.”

The center, which opened its doors for private practice in 2022, has introduced a new therapeutic approach called Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART). This method aims to help individuals reframe distressing memories, allowing them to retain the facts of their experiences without the accompanying emotional weight. “Many people notice significant changes in just 1 to 5 sessions,” Landis noted.

ART is particularly beneficial for addressing issues such as performance anxiety, phobias, grief, loss, trauma, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
