Benjamin T. White, a respected engineer and devoted family man, passed away peacefully at the age of 83 on August 31, 2025. He spent his final moments at home, surrounded by a dedicated caregiver, after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease that lasted over 15 years.

Born and raised on a farm in Maine, White was deeply rooted in his heritage, reflecting the values of the pioneers who came before him. He proudly identified as an Old Stock American. His career began with a distinguished 20-year service in the United States Navy, where he achieved a top enlisted rank before pursuing his lifelong passion for building.

Throughout his career, White contributed significantly to numerous structural projects in Hampton Roads and across Virginia. His remarkable engineering skills left a lasting impact on the community, with structures that will stand for generations. Colleagues and friends remembered him not only for his technical expertise but also for his natural ability to teach and inspire those around him.

White was known for his holistic approach to life, balancing his spiritual beliefs with a strong foundation in science. He excelled in mathematics and physics, demonstrating a profound understanding of the principles that govern the physical world. Described as kind yet direct, he possessed a unique sense of humor that endeared him to many.

In his personal life, White was a devoted father and grandfather. He is survived by one sister, three children, six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and his ex-wife.

A private ceremony will be held to spread his ashes at sea, as per his wishes. Family and friends are invited to celebrate his life at an event scheduled for October 11, 2025. This gathering will offer an opportunity to share memories and stories that honor his legacy.
