Linda Gudmundson Leete passed away peacefully on October 5, 2025, following a long and courageous battle with breast cancer. She was 75 years old. Linda was born on April 29, 1950, in Merced, California, the second of four children to parents Westerdahl and Norma Gudmundson. In 1957, her family relocated to San Rafael, where she would spend much of her childhood and early adult years.
Linda attended San Rafael High School, where she met Paul Leete during her senior year. This encounter marked the beginning of a lifelong partnership. After graduating, Linda pursued her education at UC Berkeley, while Paul was drafted into the United States Navy. Upon his return, the couple moved to Chico, California, where Linda completed her education at California State University, Chico. In her later career, she returned to education, working at both Chapman Elementary School and Blue Oak Charter School.
In addition to her educational pursuits, Linda and Paul developed a passion for home design and real estate. They collaborated on buying, remodeling, and selling homes, which sparked a long career in property development. Linda’s talent for floor plan creation and design significantly contributed to several well-known residential subdivisions and commercial complexes in Chico.
Linda’s interests extended beyond her professional life. She was an enthusiastic traveler, an avid reader, and had a deep appreciation for education and politics. Known for her spirited political debates, she engaged actively in discussions on current affairs.
Family was Linda’s greatest source of joy. She prioritized her children, Christine Kermen and Tim Leete, and cherished her grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. After the passing of her husband in 2021, she grew closer to her sister-in-law, Pam Young. Together, they enjoyed many shared experiences, including taking OLLI classes and participating in Zumba sessions, which fostered both learning and laughter.
