Agnes Margaret (Hedlund) Urdanick, a cherished mother, grandmother, and educator, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2026, after a courageous 16-year battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was 76 years old at the time of her passing.
Born on March 29, 1949, in Brooklyn, New York, Agnes was the daughter of Anna and Henry Hedlund. She graduated from Our Lady of Perpetual Help High School in 1966 and pursued a successful career as an Executive Secretary in the real estate investment banking sector, eventually working for one of the largest firms in the United States.
A Transition to Family and Education
In 1976, Agnes and her husband, Ronald Urdanick, relocated their family from New York City to South Windsor, Connecticut. After welcoming their children, she made the decision to become a stay-at-home mother. In 1979, Agnes embarked on a second career as a beloved Nursery School Teacher. Her dedication led her to become the Director of the Creative Nursery School, where for over 21 years, she positively impacted the lives of hundreds of children in the community.
Outside of her professional life, Agnes was passionate about recreational activities. She enjoyed bowling during the winter months and spent her summers on the golf course as a long-time member of Ellington Ridge Country Club. An avid reader and skilled crocheter, she embraced hobbies that allowed her to connect with others and express her creativity.
