
The 2025 girls lacrosse season in the Finger Lakes League was marked by outstanding performances, with the Palmyra-Macedon Red Raiders emerging as the top team. The Red Raiders, along with the Waterloo Tigers, both secured spots in the Section V championship games in their respective classes, showcasing their prowess in the league. Junior Maci Mueller from Waterloo, who led her team to a 10-7 record, was named Player of the Year, while senior Taryn Goodness from Pal-Mac, which boasted a 15-4 record, was honored as Defensive Player of the Year. Mueller also earned All-American status, joining an elite group of six players in Section V to achieve this distinction.
Key Players and Team Achievements
Goodness wasn’t the only standout from Pal-Mac. Junior Teagan Hudak shared the Midfield Player of the Year award with senior Myah Herron from Mynderse Academy/Romulus, who finished the season at 5-12. The fierce Mynderse/Waterloo rivalry was reignited during the Section V Class D semifinals held at Wayne Central, where Waterloo secured a spot in the finals against the top-seeded Penn Yan Academy. Waterloo’s efforts were further recognized with three players making the first-team all-league.
Joining Mueller on the first-team were junior Bailey Rossignol, who excelled in the attack, and seventh-grader Kinsley Bree, who earned her place in the midfield. Meanwhile, Mynderse/Romulus saw Herron and senior Chelsea Korzeniewski both securing first-team honors, Herron in midfield and Korzeniewski in attack.
Pal-Mac’s Dominance
Pal-Mac led the league with six players named to the first-team lists. Alongside Hudak in midfield, Goodness was joined by senior Jenna Santelli and freshman Brinn Castrechini in the attack. Senior Lily Boesel and freshman Baylee Vilord also made first-team for midfield, contributing to Pal-Mac’s successful run past Aquinas Institute/World of Inquiry School in the Section V Class C semifinals.
Geneva, with a 14-4 record, showcased a promising young team. Junior Maddie Askin as goalie, junior Meghan Forbes in attack, and eighth-grader Makenna Harris in midfield all earned first-team honors for the Panthers.
Other Notable Performances
Wayne Central, ending the season at 9-8, was propelled by senior Isabella Velte, who was named Attack Player of the Year and earned a first-team spot in attack. Her teammates, senior Samantha Branner and junior Lauren Twist, also received first-team honors for their roles in midfield and defense.
Marcus Whitman, with a 4-13 record, saw seniors Helen Snyder and Raegan Weissinger, along with eighth-grader Aubriella Bowman, earn second-team honors for their efforts in attack and midfield. For Newark/Midlakes, which concluded the season at 2-15, freshman Zoey Overslaugh made first-team at midfield.
Juniors Lexi Gallina and Ella Michaels from Gananda/Marion, despite a challenging season with a 0-16 record, were recognized on the third-team for midfield. Livonia/Avon/Geneseo, finishing at 9-8, had junior Lily Rowe and junior Maddie Whitford earning first-team spots for attack and midfield, respectively.
