WWE women’s champion Naomi has publicly expressed her frustrations with rapper Cardi B in a series of exchanges on social media, leading up to the much-anticipated SummerSlam event. This year’s SummerSlam is set for August 2 and August 3 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
The rivalry escalated as Naomi, 37, warned Cardi, 32, saying, “She better hope she don’t run into me at MetLife.” Naomi’s comments reflect her displeasure with Cardi’s recent remarks, which she deemed disrespectful. This back-and-forth began when Naomi encouraged her followers to “say something nice” about her on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) on July 22. In an unexpected response, Cardi quipped about Naomi’s family, writing, “You have amazing in-laws … you should thank them,” referencing her husband Jimmy Uso’s parents, WWE Hall of Famer Rikishi and Talisua Fuavai-Fatu.
Naomi’s response was swift, declaring, “This means war ⚠️🤬.” The tension intensified further when Cardi showcased her natural hair in a post, prompting Naomi to threaten to “shave all of that pretty hair off and make me a wig.” In a playful tone, Naomi mentioned her efforts to keep Cardi out of the building during SummerSlam.
Despite the ongoing feud, Naomi acknowledged the significance of Cardi B’s involvement in WWE. She stated, “I love the mainstream crossovers,” highlighting the excitement that comes from uniting diverse artists and performers within the wrestling world. Naomi believes these collaborations enrich the wrestling experience, making it more accessible to a broader audience.
The SummerSlam event promises to be thrilling, not only with Cardi B as the guest host but also with country music star Jelly Roll participating in a match alongside Randy Orton. They will face off against Logan Paul and Drew McIntyre on August 2. Meanwhile, Naomi will defend her WWE women’s world championship on August 3 in a triple threat match against Rhea Ripley and Iyo Sky.
Naomi recently achieved a significant milestone by winning the women’s Money in the Bank ladder match in June. She capitalized on this victory by cashing in her championship contract at WWE Evolution earlier this month. Reflecting on her win, Naomi remarked, “I’m still wrapping my head around it.” She expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support from fans, acknowledging the mixed responses that come with being in the spotlight.
“I appreciate that, one way or another, the fans feel something,” Naomi said. “They’re connected to this phase that I’m in, whether they like it or not.” Her confidence and determination suggest that she is ready to face whatever challenges come her way at SummerSlam.
WWE’s two-night SummerSlam event will air live on Peacock at 19:00 ET on both August 2 and August 3, promising an action-packed weekend for wrestling fans around the globe.
