Supriya Ganesh, one of the stars of HBO Max’s drama series The Pitt, recently shared her insights about working alongside Shawn Hatosy, particularly during a memorable scene where he appeared shirtless. Speaking exclusively to Us Weekly at the Actors Rising event on February 26, 2025, Ganesh expressed her initial apprehensions about their collaboration.
During the interview, she remarked, “Shawn and I had so much fun playing with that scene. It was really great to work with him.” This scene was particularly significant as it was filmed just a day after Hatosy received his Emmy Award. Ganesh humorously admitted that she had concerns he might “hate working” with her, but those fears quickly dissipated once they started filming. “He’s such a gifted and lovely and giving actor. He is so great to work with,” she noted.
The Pitt, which premiered in January 2025, delves into the lives of employees at a fictional emergency room in Pittsburgh, covering a single 15-hour shift. The series has received critical acclaim, winning multiple awards at the Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Drama Series and Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.
Fan Reactions and Future Storylines
Ganesh also addressed the enthusiastic fan response to the on-screen relationship between her character, Mohan, and Hatosy’s Abbot. As the series progressed, many viewers expressed their desire to see a romantic development between the two characters. “I get DMs about it all the time,” she shared, referring to the buzz surrounding a specific scene in season one. “And I just was like, ‘Oh, just wait. I think we got something better than the bench scene.’”
Despite the strong interest, Ganesh indicated that the direction of their characters’ relationship ultimately lies in the hands of the writing team. “It’s whatever the writers think is right. There was a writer in season 1 that was like, ‘Oh, I think these two would be really good together,'” she explained. Ganesh and Hatosy have embraced this potential storyline, appreciating the support from fans.
Understanding the complexities of their characters, Ganesh noted, “There’s a lot of similarities there. They’re also messed up in similar ways too. Honestly, I think it’s like pros and cons.”
New episodes of The Pitt are available on HBO Max every Thursday, and viewers are eagerly anticipating how the storyline between Mohan and Abbot will unfold in season two. As the series continues to captivate audiences, Ganesh remains optimistic about the potential for deeper connections between the characters, driven by both the actors’ chemistry and the writers’ vision.
