The new film Maintenance Required, available on Prime Video as of March 15, 2024, features a comedic ensemble led by stars Katy O’Brian, Madison Bailey, and Matteo Lane. The trio recently shared insights about the film’s humor, their characters, and the creative process during an interview with ComingSoon.

The film’s narrative centers on Charlie, the determined owner of an all-female mechanic shop, who faces the challenge of a corporate competitor opening nearby. In an unexpected twist, Charlie turns to an anonymous online confidant for advice, unaware that she is confiding in Beau, the rival threatening her livelihood. As their online interactions heat up, the situation complicates, leading to comedic and heartfelt moments.

O’Brian, who portrays Charlie, described her character as a “reverse Lothario,” mentioning the humorous dynamic of her character juggling multiple male interests. “I just always look so gay,” she joked, reflecting on how her character’s relationships took shape. “It was a good time,” she added, highlighting the positive atmosphere on set.

Bailey, who plays Izzy, also contributed to the film’s playful spirit. She recalled a memorable scene where the characters rap along to Nicki Minaj’s “Super Bass,” which she found both enjoyable and effortless. “I didn’t have to learn the lyrics for the scene. It was great,” she noted, emphasizing the fun environment during filming.

Lane, known for his work in comedy, shared his excitement about transitioning to film. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to work on Maintenance Required after years of performing stand-up. “Honestly, it’s just… fun,” he said. Lane reflected on his journey in the New York comedy scene, stating, “It just feels like you’re hanging out. I just love being on set. I’m like, ‘Well, this is cool.’”

O’Brian’s character’s relationship with Madelaine Petsch’s role also adds a layer of depth to the film. “It was fun to be able to play with that,” she remarked about their dynamic, which is characterized by tough love. O’Brian took joy in challenging Petsch to maintain her composure during their scenes together.

Bailey highlighted her character’s resourcefulness in a male-dominated industry, noting Izzy’s idea to introduce a nail salon service for customers waiting for car repairs. “There is money to be made,” Bailey explained, emphasizing how Izzy’s ingenuity ultimately contributes to the shop’s success. “It’s awesome that it helps save the shop itself,” she concluded.

As the conversation wrapped up, all three actors expressed enthusiasm for future projects and collaborations. Lane humorously teased that he might revive a previous comedic endeavor with his friend, hinting at another calendar shoot.

Thanks to Katy O’Brian, Madison Bailey, and Matteo Lane for their engaging conversation about Maintenance Required. The film promises to deliver laughs and heartfelt moments, showcasing the talent of its cast.
