Lydia Plath and her husband, Zac Wyse, are contemplating their future family plans, expressing a desire for children while also prioritizing their relationship. In an exclusive interview with Us Weekly on August 25, 2023, Lydia shared, “We’re still playing it by ear,” regarding their timeline for starting a family. The couple, who married in February 2023 after a brief engagement, is currently focusing on enjoying their first year together before taking the next step.
Lydia, who hails from a large family as one of nine siblings, revealed that her father, Barry Plath, has been eager for grandchildren since before Zac proposed. “He’s ready to be a grandfather. He’s still waiting today,” Lydia noted. She added a personal touch, mentioning a shelf in their home that once held her baby pictures, which her father jokingly suggested they start filling with their own children’s photos.
Zac, affirming his wife’s sentiments, stated, “We’re definitely waiting, though, because we want to know each other. We also want to prepare for something like that.” Although both are feeling the urge for children—what they refer to as having “baby fever”—they are committed to waiting at least a year or two before expanding their family. When they do decide to have children, Lydia indicated they envision a family of “three to five” kids, which she believes is the right size for them.
New Experiences Fueling Their Family Aspirations
The couple’s desire for children has intensified following recent interactions with their friends, including Jinger Duggar and her husband, Jeremy Vuolo. Earlier this summer, they spent time with the Duggars and welcomed their latest addition, son Finnegan, born in March 2023. Lydia humorously remarked, “Seeing Zach hold a baby, it was just the worst thing for me right now,” highlighting how these experiences have stirred their aspirations.
Although they are currently focused on their relationship, Lydia and Zac have enjoyed ample practice in intimacy since their wedding, having saved their first kiss for that special day. Zac emphasized the importance of trust in their relationship, stating, “I think we trusted each other enough that, you know, it wasn’t going to be perfect.” Lydia added that their journey together has been uniquely fulfilling, highlighting that their moments of learning are what make their experiences special.
As they navigate this exciting chapter of their lives, the couple remains open to the possibilities ahead, balancing their love for each other with their dreams of parenthood.
