Children are invited to a unique storytelling and crafting experience at the Arlington Museum of Art with the event titled Create Your Own Yeti. Taking place every other Wednesday, this engaging program allows kids to delve into winter-themed tales and create their own yeti friends, fostering creativity and imagination.
The next session of Storytime will be held on November 1, 2023, from 11:00 am to 12:00 noon at the museum, located at 1200 Ballpark Way, Arlington. Admission and parking are free, making it an accessible event for families. Participants will enjoy a theatrical reading of a story by a community member or a Children’s Librarian from the Arlington Public Library. Occasionally, children will be treated to a puppet show, adding a delightful element to the storytelling experience.
Following the reading, attendees will engage in an art activity that complements the story. This hands-on approach helps children transform their listening skills into tactile creativity, allowing them to take home an original piece of art. The event not only promotes literacy but also enhances fine motor skills and artistic expression.
Storytime events are hosted in various locations within the museum, including the Community Gallery, Traditional Gallery, or Boardroom. Upon arrival, families should check in at the front desk. It is important to note that children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.
Pre-registration is required for participation, and families are advised to register in advance to secure their spots. Upon registering, participants will receive an email notification that should be presented to the parking attendant on arrival. Walk-ins are not permitted, so early registration is encouraged.
For families interested in nurturing their children’s love for reading and creativity, Storytime at the Arlington Museum of Art presents a wonderful opportunity. This interactive event not only entertains but also enriches the educational experience for young minds.
