The January Jazzfest, a hallmark event for jazz enthusiasts in Central New York, is set to feature a new venue, schedule, and lineup for its 2026 edition. The festival will take place at the Timber Banks Clubhouse in Baldwinsville, moving from its previous location to a more spacious banquet facility above Persimmons. This year’s festival promises to enhance accessibility and showcase an impressive roster of talent.

The event will be trimmed to a five-hour celebration, running from 14:00 to 19:00 on January 31, 2026. Unlike previous venues that spanned multiple stories, the Timber Banks Clubhouse offers a single-level layout, making it easier for attendees to navigate. The festival will feature renowned Upstate New York musicians, including the legendary funk tribute band ATLAS, which has been entertaining audiences for nearly fifty years.

CNY Jazz leader and presenter Larry Luttinger emphasized the importance of community support in this transition. “We have Ryan Millard of ‘Moving with Millard’ to thank for this big leap forward, as well as continued support from Seneca Savings and many other loyal corporate sponsors,” he stated. Such backing allows the festival to invest in a powerful lineup that reflects the rich musical heritage of the region.

The event will commence with a performance by Dan Fields, known for his standout jazz tenor voice in Syracuse. He will be followed by millennial guitar virtuoso Drew Serafini and his trio, featuring veteran saxophonist Joe Carello as a special guest. The evening will conclude with a lively dance party led by ATLAS, promising to energize the crowd.

In keeping with its tradition of nurturing young talent, the festival will also host a “CNY Jazz Alumni Jam.” This segment will highlight successful artists who have emerged from CNY Jazz programs, including participants from the summer jazz workshop and the CNY Jazz Youth Orchestra. Luttinger remarked, “This is all about passing the baton to the jazz artists of the future,” underscoring the festival’s commitment to fostering the next generation of musicians.

Throughout the event, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a raffle, with food and drinks provided by the Timber Banks Clubhouse. Tickets are available for $25 in advance or $30 at the door, and can be purchased at cnyjazz.org/tickets.

The January Jazzfest at Timber Banks Clubhouse not only marks a new chapter for this winter jazz celebration but also reinforces the community’s dedication to preserving and promoting jazz music in Central New York.
