Sandra Jean DeVos Huber, a cherished wife and mother, passed away on November 10, 2025, in Duanesburg, New York. Born on November 3, 1945, in Albany, New York, she was the daughter of William and Sophia DeVos. Sandra’s commitment to education and community service defined her life, leaving a lasting impact on those around her.

After earning a B.A. from SUNY Albany in 1968, Sandra developed a passion for reading, language, and communication. She met her future husband, Russell Huber, in 1968, and they married in 1976. Together, they raised two sons, William Huber of Albany, NY, and Carl (Aubrey) Huber of Penfield, NY.

Sandra was actively involved in her local community, particularly within the Duanesburg Central School District. She participated in various reading programs and served as a den mother for the Boy Scouts. Her commitment to volunteering extended to fundraising for PBS and reading for the print disabled through the WMHT RISE program.

Passion for Community and the Arts

In addition to her volunteer work, Sandra enjoyed a fulfilling career with the Schenectady County Public Library system, where she helped foster a love of reading among community members. Her personal interests included mystery novels, creating stained glass art, and cooking. She loved embarking on road trips with her family, bringing joy and adventure into their lives.

Sandra is predeceased by her siblings, Catherine Agans and William DeVos, and is survived by her brother Kenneth DeVos. Alongside her husband Russ, her two sons, and daughter-in-law, she leaves behind a wide network of cousins, nieces, and nephews who cherished her deeply.

A Celebration of Life

Family and friends are invited to honor Sandra’s life during a Celebration of Life on Saturday, December 6, 2025, from 14:00 to 16:00 at the White-Van Buren Funeral Home located at 1779 Main St., Delanson, NY.
