Cardi B has joined forces with organic infant formula brand Bobbie to launch a significant maternal health campaign aimed at addressing the challenges faced by mothers of color. This initiative, known as “The B is for Bobbie,” officially began on October 15, 2023, and seeks to tackle the ongoing maternal health crisis prevalent in the United States.
In her new role as Bobbie’s Chief Confidence Officer, Cardi B is committed to amplifying the voices of Black and Brown mothers while promoting the confidence of all caregivers to choose formula feeding without facing stigma. During a recent discussion on X Spaces, she highlighted the challenges many women encounter with breastfeeding, stating, “Breastfeeding also takes a lot of time and some women gotta go straight to work to feed their families and take care of their kids.”
The Bronx native, who is expecting her fourth child, expressed her enthusiasm for collaborating with Bobbie through an Instagram post. She emphasized the importance of maternal confidence, stating, “Motherhood is a real a*s job and EVERY mom deserves to feel confident they’ll deliver their baby safely, to feel confident they’ll have protected paid leave with their newborn, and to feel confident they can feed their baby without judgement.” Cardi B’s support for Bobbie stems from her personal experience, having chosen their formula for her daughter, Blossom.
The campaign also sheds light on the alarming statistics regarding maternal health risks for women of color. Cardi B pointed out that mothers of color are three times more likely to die from pregnancy-related causes compared to their white counterparts. “Every mother deserves to have a healthy and safe delivery. Every mother deserves to have a doctor that cares about you and your baby,” she asserted.
Cardi B’s involvement in this campaign is particularly relevant as she navigates motherhood herself, following the recent birth of her daughter Blossom and with another child on the way, her first with NFL star Stefon Diggs.
Through “The B is for Bobbie” initiative, Cardi B aims to foster a supportive environment for mothers, advocating for systemic changes that prioritize maternal health and well-being. Her passionate advocacy is set to inspire many, highlighting the need for greater awareness and action in addressing disparities in maternal health care.
