Beta Film has acquired the international distribution rights to the Bosnian mystery crime series “Komar,” which premiered at the Sarajevo Film Festival one year ago. Produced by BH Telecom under its BH Content Lab division, the series showcases a compelling narrative that has drawn attention in the competitive entertainment landscape.
This marks the third collaboration between BH Telecom and Beta Film, following the successful releases of “I Know Your Soul” and “The Hollow.” The eight-hour series adds to Beta Film’s expanding portfolio of high-quality productions from the Balkans, which includes notable titles such as the acclaimed “Operation Sabre” from Serbia, recently praised by Spiegel as a “masterful political thriller” and by Télérama as “a powerful and committed thriller.”
Engaging Plot and Talented Team
“Komar” centers on Mersiha, whose boyfriend Miki disappears while traveling through the Komar mountains.
As she teams up with her best friend, Jasna, to search for him, other passengers on the bus find themselves lost without a signal or way to return to civilization. The series delves into the dark forces attempting to thwart their investigation, creating layers of intrigue and suspense.
The showrunner, Timur Makarevic, leads a talented team, with Vedran Rupic and Una Gunjak sharing directing responsibilities. The series features a strong cast, including Lejla Hakalovic, Pia Vrdoljak, and Igor Skvarica, who bring the story to life with their performances.

At this year’s Sarajevo Film Festival, Beta Film is represented by Julia Schweiger, a senior executive in the Kids & YA division. She will participate in the Cinelink panel titled “From SKAM to SRAM: Youth Drama, Public Broadcasters, and the Power of Adaptation,” highlighting the importance of youth narratives in contemporary media.
