woodland-library-s-bookshop-offers-bargains-and-appeals-for-donations

The Woodland Public Library’s Friends of the Library (FOL) invites the community to explore its Bookshop, located in the library’s basement, which features an extensive collection of affordable books. Amid rising prices affecting many households, this initiative offers a chance to find literary treasures across various genres, including fiction, mystery, cooking, history, and biographies.

Community Appeal for Book Donations

As a volunteer at the Bookshop, Karen Shepard emphasizes the importance of community support in maintaining this valuable resource. She notes that donations of gently used books have been declining, prompting her call for residents of Woodland to consider contributing their books. The Bookshop accepts a wide range of publications from 2016 to the present, excluding encyclopedias, religious texts, and textbooks.

Books that do not meet these criteria are either sent to Better World Books, which provides a modest stipend for the donations, or offered to Goodwill Industries. Those in poor condition are recycled responsibly. This process not only aids in decluttering personal collections but also supports library programs aimed at enriching both adult and children’s education.

Visit the Bookshop for Great Deals

The Bookshop is open during regular library hours, and new donations arrive daily. Visitors can expect to find not only classics and award-winning titles but also a variety of contemporary works. The range of books available ensures that there is something for everyone, making it an attractive destination for readers of all ages.

For those interested in donating, books can be taken to the library during normal business hours. Shepard expresses her commitment to the cause, stating that she will be clearing out her own collection to support the FOL.
