
The Schuylkill Chamber of Commerce is set to host its annual Veterans’ Day breakfast, described by President and CEO Robert S. Carl Jr. as the “most meaningful event of the year.” Scheduled for 8:30 to 10:00 a.m. on November 7, 2023, the gathering will take place at the Orwigsburg Veterans Memorial Hall, located at 300 Grove Street. This event aims to honor the sacrifices of veterans and is open to all veterans at no cost.
In a statement shared during a recent “Bob’s Briefing,” Carl emphasized the importance of this occasion, inviting the community to join in expressing gratitude and respect for those who have served. Transportation will also be provided free of charge for veterans who require assistance. For attendees who are not veterans, tickets are priced at $35 for chamber members and $50 for non-members. This year’s keynote speaker will be Ryan P. Aument, the state director for U.S. Senator Dave McCormick. Aument has an extensive background in public service, having served as a state representative and state senator from Lancaster County from 2010 to 2024. Networking and Community Engagement Activities
In addition to the Veterans’ Day breakfast, the Schuylkill Chamber of Commerce is organizing a networking event titled “Coffee Matters.” Scheduled for 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. on October 30, 2023, this event will take place at the chamber’s headquarters located at 1 Progress Circle, Suite 201, Union Station Building in Pottsville.
The chamber described the event as an opportunity for meaningful dialogue among small business owners, stating that it is designed to foster genuine connections and discussions. The first iteration of Coffee Matters proved successful, leading to new business deals and valuable conversations among participants. Community Events and Opportunities
Another exciting event, “Ashland in Autumn,” will be hosted by the Pioneer Tunnel Coal Mine & Steam Train on October 26, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.. This family-friendly event will feature entertainment from local bands, steam train rides, and a chance to meet Bear & Friends. Adult admission is priced at $20, which includes access to all activities, while children can attend for free with a paying adult. Finally, the Schuylkill Technology Center will hold its 37th annual Craft and Vendor Show on November 1, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the STC North Campus. The event will feature over 40 craft vendors and aims to support student organizations through its proceeds. Admission is free, and visitors can find a variety of crafts and seasonal decorations, with culinary students preparing homemade treats for sale.
The Northeast Pennsylvania Manufacturers and Employers Association (MAEA) is also offering various training sessions for local employers, including first aid certification, HR discussions on AI in the workplace, and OSHA training.
