The Arvest Bank has successfully raised over $20,000 during its 15th annual Million Meals campaign, which aims to support local non-profit organizations dedicated to fighting hunger. This year’s efforts specifically benefited the Lawton Food Bank, the Elgin Community Food Bank, the Chickasha Emergency Food Pantry, and Christians Concerned in Duncan.
Ongoing Commitment to Community Support
As part of the campaign, representatives from Arvest presented a $10,000 check to Ellen “Mac” Lechel, Executive Director of the Lawton Food Bank. This donation is part of a broader initiative that runs annually from April to May, raising both awareness and funds to combat hunger in the bank’s operational footprint across four states.
The Million Meals campaign emphasizes the importance of community involvement in addressing food insecurity, especially during the summer months when many children lose access to free or reduced-price meals at schools. Funds raised through this initiative are directed to local food partners, enabling them to meet the increased demand for food assistance during this critical period.
For every dollar donated, local food partners are able to provide up to five meals to those in need. This ratio illustrates the significant impact that community contributions can have on alleviating hunger in the region.
Addressing Food Insecurity in the Region
The funds from the Million Meals campaign are essential for local food banks, which often face heightened demand as families struggle during the summer months. In many areas, the financial support garnered through this campaign directly translates to increased meal availability for vulnerable populations.
According to Arvest, every dollar raised during the campaign remains within the local community, ensuring that contributions are utilized effectively and efficiently. This commitment to local support reinforces the bank’s dedication to addressing food insecurity.
The total of $20,000 raised this year marks a significant achievement for the Million Meals campaign, highlighting the ongoing need for community engagement in the fight against hunger. Each contribution not only supports local food banks but also fosters a sense of solidarity among community members.
As the campaign continues to grow in its reach and impact, Arvest Bank remains focused on its mission to support those in need, demonstrating that collective efforts can make a meaningful difference in the lives of many.
