Sinodinos’ Distinguished Career
Ambassador Sinodinos brings a wealth of experience from his previous role as Australia’s Ambassador to the United States. During his tenure, he was instrumental in bolstering the U.S.–Australia alliance across two administrations. He played a critical role in various strategic initiatives, including AUKUS, the Quad, and the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework, enhancing collaboration between the United States and its allies in the Indo-Pacific region.
Before his diplomatic service, Sinodinos served as Australia’s Minister for Industry, Innovation and Science and represented New South Wales as a Senator from 2011 to 2019. His parliamentary career included senior roles both within and outside Cabinet, notably as Cabinet Secretary and Assistant Treasurer, where he significantly contributed to economic policy and national industry strategy.
Sinodinos has also held influential positions in public service. Following the election of Prime Minister John Howard in 1996, he was appointed Senior Economic Adviser and later became the Prime Minister’s Chief of Staff for nine years. His early career included a role in Australia’s Department of the Treasury, where he progressed to the Senior Executive Service.
Private Sector Expertise
In addition to his government experience, Sinodinos has a robust background in the private sector. He held senior roles at Goldman Sachs JBWere and the National Australia Bank, and has served on the boards of various companies and non-profit organizations. Currently, he is the Chairman of Hypersonix Launch Systems and advises organizations involved in funds management, critical minerals, and the Australian-American relationship.
