Timothée Chalamet is set to collaborate once again with director James Mangold on the upcoming thriller, ‘High Side’. This new project is based on a short story by Jaime Oliveira and is being produced by Chernin Entertainment. Paramount Pictures secured the rights through a competitive auction process, as reported by Variety.

The plot of ‘High Side’ revolves around a former MotoGP racer named Billy, who is lured back into a dangerous lifestyle after a career-ending accident. The story unfolds as Billy’s estranged brother, pursued by the FBI, persuades him to join a series of bank heists utilizing their motocross skills. The film promises a mix of high-speed action and emotional depth, depicting Billy’s struggle with his family’s legacy and personal demons.

In a statement, Dana Goldberg and Josh Greenstein, the co-chairs of Paramount Pictures, expressed their excitement: “We’re thrilled to be in business with visionary artists like James and Timothée, and exceptional collaborators like Peter and David at Chernin. What Jaime has created reflects the kind of bold, original storytelling we’re committed to championing at Paramount.”

Mangold, known for his diverse filmmaking style, emphasized the importance of collaboration on this project. “Timothée is a trusted collaborator, a generational artist and a person I adore. I can’t wait to roll up my sleeves and work together again,” he stated. The director has already garnered critical acclaim for his previous work, including eight Oscar nominations for his film ‘A Complete Unknown’.

As for Chalamet, he is currently engaged in filming the third installment of ‘Dune’ and leading the cast in Josh Safdie’s upcoming film, ‘Marty Supreme’. His growing filmography continues to showcase his versatility as an actor.

Mangold’s extensive experience includes directing iconic films such as ‘Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny’, ‘Copland’, and ‘Girl Interrupted’. His approach to directing involves open communication with the cast, allowing for creative freedom and spontaneity during filming. “I’m also unafraid to act silly or act out the scene,” he explained, emphasizing the collaborative atmosphere he fosters on set.

As ‘High Side’ moves forward in production, both Chalamet and Mangold are poised to deliver a thrilling cinematic experience that blends action with compelling storytelling. The film is anticipated to engage audiences with its unique perspective on crime and redemption within the world of motocross.

With ‘High Side’ on the horizon, the partnership between Timothée Chalamet and James Mangold promises to be a noteworthy addition to the landscape of contemporary cinema, further establishing both artists as leading figures in their respective crafts.
