family-demands-justice-in-farmworker-s-death-after-ice-raid

UPDATE: The family of Jaime Alanís Garcia is taking urgent legal action following his tragic death after an ICE raid at a cannabis grow house in Camarillo, California. Attorneys filed a federal court claim demanding accountability from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for what they describe as an illegal search and seizure and excessive use of force.

Alanís Garcia, a dedicated farmworker, fell 30 feet from a building during the raid on Glass House Farms last month. He succumbed to his injuries just two days later, suffering from a broken neck and skull. This incident has ignited a wave of outrage and calls for justice from the community.

“He expected this to be like any other day,” said attorney Robbie Munoz. “He showed up to work, he expected that he was going to be able to perform his job, and go home to his family, and he never had that opportunity.”

The family is seeking damages for Alanís Garcia’s pre-death pain and suffering, as well as medical expenses, lost earnings, and funeral costs. His wife and daughter have also initiated a wrongful death action for loss of financial support, services, consortium, and inheritance that he would have provided.

With legal representatives poised to escalate the matter, they warn that if ICE fails to respond within six months, they will file a lawsuit in federal court. The urgency of this situation is palpable, as the family fights for accountability and justice for their loved one.

Authorities have yet to provide a detailed response. Department of Homeland Security Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs Tricia McLaughlin stated, “This man was not in and has not been in CBP or ICE custody. Although he was not being pursued by law enforcement, this individual climbed up to the roof of a greenhouse and fell 30 feet. CBP immediately called a medivac to the scene to get him care as quickly as possible.”

As this story develops, the family and their legal team continue to advocate for justice in a case that highlights the critical need for accountability in law enforcement actions, particularly in sensitive immigration contexts. The impact of Alanís Garcia’s death echoes beyond his family, stirring emotions and discussions across the community and beyond.

Stay tuned as more updates emerge regarding this urgent case. The fight for justice in the face of tragedy is just beginning.
