WSFS Bank has reaffirmed its commitment to Wilmington, Delaware, by renewing its long-term lease for its headquarters at 500 Delaware Avenue. The bank also unveiled plans for a significant renovation of its office space, aimed at fostering collaboration and supporting future growth. The WSFS Bank Center has been the primary office location since its construction in 2006 by the Buccini Pollin Group (BPG).

Currently, WSFS occupies more than 74,000 square feet of the building, which represents approximately 80% of the tower’s total space. Nearly 300 employees work at this location, underscoring WSFS’s vital role in the local economy.

Rodger Levenson, Chairman, President, and CEO of WSFS, expressed pride in the bank’s longstanding connection to the city. “WSFS was established more than 190 years ago to serve Wilmington and the surrounding areas – the city has always been home,” he stated. Levenson emphasized the importance of providing an upgraded office environment for employees, which will help the bank maintain its reputation as a leading employer in Wilmington.

Renovation Plans and Modernization Efforts

The planned renovations align with broader efforts to modernize the workplace and enhance the tenant experience. BPG has already introduced several amenities at the WSFS Bank Center, including a 24/7 fitness facility, a clubroom with a grab-and-go market, and a fully equipped conferencing center. In 2024, the building added The BlueBird Café, expanding on-site dining and catering options.

Chris Buccini, President of BPG, commended WSFS for its enduring presence in the community. He remarked, “WSFS is a bedrock in our business community and their continued commitment to anchor Wilmington’s only trophy office tower and commanding rooftop signage is further testament to their leadership.”

Wilmington Mayor John Carney echoed Buccini’s sentiments, describing the lease renewal as a “strong and ongoing commitment to our city.” He viewed the announcement as a sign of positive momentum for downtown Wilmington.

With its renewed lease and plans for a modernized workspace, WSFS Bank signals its intention to remain a foundational force in Wilmington’s business landscape. The bank aims to continue its nearly two-century legacy in the city it proudly calls home.
