Edward Nicholas Yunker, an esteemed member of the Baxter, Minnesota community, passed away on August 1, 2025, at the age of 86. Surrounded by his wife, Yvonne Yunker, whom he married 23 years ago, Yunker left behind a legacy of service, family, and creativity.

Born on February 13, 1939, in Crosby, Minnesota, to Melvin and Ann Yunker, he graduated from Crosby High School in 1957. Shortly after, he joined the U.S. Navy, where he served as a radio operator. This experience marked the beginning of a life dedicated to both service and family.

In June 1962, Yunker married Gayle Anderson, and the couple welcomed three children: Brian, Amy Carson, and Melissa Yunker. Yunker worked for many years at Potlatch Corporation, retiring in 1998. His retirement allowed him to explore various interests, including achieving a brown belt in karate and participating in numerous community activities.

Yunker’s passion for the arts shone brightly through his involvement in local theatre. He acted and sang in numerous productions and was particularly proud of his work with the “Geritol Frolics,” a local show he and Yvonne directed and performed in for many years. He earned the affectionate title of “Mr. Geritol Frolics” from his peers, reflecting his enduring commitment to the community.

Family was at the heart of Yunker’s life. He was a devoted grandfather to 12 grandchildren and a great-grandfather to 18. He is survived by his wife, Yvonne; his daughters, Amy and Melissa; and Yvonne’s children, Mark Hill, Margo Johnson, and Marty Hill. He also leaves behind sisters Connie and Judy, brothers Ron and Dennis, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Yunker’s passing is mourned by many, as he was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Patte and Ruth Ann, brother David, and son Brian, as well as his first wife, Gayle.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on August 9, 2025, at Zion Lutheran Church in Baxter, with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. A luncheon will follow the service. Yunker will receive military honors during interment at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls on August 11, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Nelson-Doran Funeral Home. Yunker’s legacy of love, service, and community spirit will remain in the hearts of all who knew him.
